Tooth whitening

As we get older our teeth naturally become darker, not helped by diet and other lifestyle habits such as smoking, that add to the overall discolouration of our teeth. Tooth whitening can lighten the natural shade of the teeth and give you back a fresh and healthy looking smile.

We offer a choice of two tooth whitening treatments, one being Enlighten and the other being an in-house system.

Your dentist at Burton Dental Lodge will assess your needs and discuss the most appropriate option for you.

FAQS

Will the treatment damage my teeth?

Whitening treatment will not damage the surface of your teeth or change their shape in any way.

What results can I expect?

Tooth whitening is not 100% guaranteed and results can vary from person to person. However, the treatment is generally successful at lightening the teeth by at least two shades.

How long do the results last?

This will depend on your diet and lifestyle. Whitened teeth are still prone to staining through things such as drinking a lot of tea, coffee or red wine, but with care whitening results can last for several years.

Can whitening treatment lighten stained crowns or veneers?

Unfortunately, not, whitening can only change the shade of your natural teeth. If you have discoloured restorations your dentist can discuss the options available for changing them to match your newly whitened teeth.

Are there any side effects?

Some people may experience some temporary tooth sensitivity for a short time after treatment. This is quite normal and will subside after a few days

Can I eat and drink as normal after treatment?

It is advisable to avoid staining items such as tea, coffee, red wine and smoking for at least 24 hours after whitening treatment.
